If you have a supply of firewood, keep it at least ten feet in distance from the outside of your home. Termites occasionally find and feast on firewood. While this would deprive you of firewood and mean termites in your yard, the space should buffer your home safely from infestation.

Vacuum your carpet often if you are having a flea problem. Fleas will begin to live in your carpet if there is not enough room for them on your pets. To help to keep their population low you should vacuum your floors a couple times a day and dispose of the bag immediately.

Opt for rock or stone when landscaping your yard instead of straw or wood chips. Organic material is the perfect habitat for many pests. If you want to keep them out of your home, both your home and yard should be as inhospitable to pests as possible. Pests will never make it into your home if they can't get past your yard.

Always take care to properly store edible items in airtight containers. Glass containers with lids or plastic containers are the choice of many home owners. Steer clear of paper or cardboard packaging, because pests can chew through them. Spiders in the home indicate bugs in the home. Spiders like to eat bugs. You should vacuum whenever you can. This helps get rid of the population of bugs in your home.

If you live in an apartment, condo, or any other multi-unit building, make sure your safe pro pest control methods aren't negatively affecting neighbors. Also make sure that your neighbors ensure that their apartments aren't infested as well. Sometimes the entire apartment or condo building is infested and measures must be taken beyond your unit.

Use borax and sugar to keep ants out of your home. Get a quart jar and mix within it a cup of both sugar and borax. Punch some holes in the lid of the jar. Sprinkle your mixture around the exterior foundation of your house. Also sprinkle along inside baseboards. The sugar attracts ants, but the borax poisons them.

You should now have some good ideas for getting rid of the pests that are plaguing your home. Give them a try to see if you can take your home back from those pesky critters or bugs that have moved in. Soon, you will be able to open your pantry without wondering what is in there.
